Overview
Al6061 (AA6061) is one of the most versatile and widely used aluminum alloys in the 6000 series aluminum family. Alloyed primarily with magnesium and silicon, Al6061 offers an excellent balance of strength, corrosion resistance, machinability, weldability, and heat-treatability.
Often referred to as the “general-purpose engineering aluminum,” Al6061 is extensively used in aerospace, automotive, robotics, industrial equipment, electronics, automation systems, and structural applications.
Compared with Al5052, Al6061 provides significantly higher strength and better CNC machining performance. Compared with Al7075, Al6061 offers better corrosion resistance and weldability at a lower cost.
